Goodbye Jimmy!
This past weekend it was announced that center-fielder Jim Edmonds would be headed out west to play with the San Diego Padres. As a Cardinal, Edmonds became a mainstay with the baseball club. He won six of his eight Golden Gloves and played with the All-Star team three years.

If you don't remember much about Edmonds, he was responsible for our trip to the World Series back in 2004 when he hit a homerun against Astros' powerhouse pitcher Roger Clemens in the 12th season. At that point and for the next two years he had helped to lead the Red Birds towards much success, in both his hitting game as well as his outfield responsibilities.
Although it is sad to see him go, Jimmy was one of the familiar faces of the Cards...he was a Pujols, or a Scotty, his game has gone down since he began his refurbished contract of some $19 million. This change will allow our hometown team some leverage financially in our search for a pitcher with an arm that works well, something we need.
So, goodbye, and thank you! Your mad skills in the outfield will be missed.
