It's Dodgeball Baby!
So one of my best friends, Rachel, sent a notice that Adult Dodgeball Leagues are coming up in our hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee. I was very excited to hear about this. I wonder if they have Dodgeball in St. Louis? I remember being in gym class at Washington Elementary a dreading the words, "Let's play dodgeball!" I was always thinking to myself, "Come on Ms. Adkins, can't we play some 'Jump-the-River'?" Anyway, it's a lot of fun to play now...it's good to hear that Kingsport is following the way of the red rubberball!

Forget dodgeball. We used to play killball, which is basically dodgeball except you can go over the halfcourt line all the way to the free throw line (or sometimes the volleyball back line) to get somebody out.
Good times, good times.

I'm so proud to have finally made the Sweet Chicken blog. Also, you need to move back so we can start a dodgeball team---let's call ourselves "Impact"! O, btw, Ruthie's gym teacher is none other than..........you guessed it: Ms. Atkins! 2nd generation Washington love.
P.S. I hadn't thought about Jump-the-River in 20 years, but I do daydream about Army/Navy, Crab Soccer, and Parachute frequently.

Hey Ray! I love it! Is there anything better than, "All's clear in Mr. Everode's office!"?

HA! Is it true (or Washington legend) that Matt Dalton broke his arms playing Army/Navy?

Ha! It was actually the most lethal kiddy game of all time, Red Rover.

HA! I'm sure he saved some face by breaking limbs instead of losing at Red Rover! I should have clarified and said Fat Matt Dalton (in case you thought I might have been referring to the skinny one). Poor Matt, no wonder he moved schools.
By the way, I tell Brian every Sunday that our offering ushers play Red Rover every Sunday while they try to walk down the aisle during our greeting time.
