McCain or Obama Ya'll?

As the election starts to heat up I wonder who my small, almost insignificant vote should go for. I know as an evangelical Christian I, by defalt, lean towards the right-wing side of things. However, in the past few years, after studying the Bible more than ever before in my life, I have come to acknowledge that the right-wing ways may not be so much more Biblical than the left-wingers afterall. I say this realizing that there are "life-issues" to take into account. However, is it not Biblical to feel that everyone deserves healthcare, and is it not Biblical to support a strong educational system for all children, and furthermore, is it not Biblical to care for the environment? I would give a resounding YES!!! That being said, I do believe that as human beings created with dignity from God's hand we were given the ability to work and provide for ourselves and families, we were given the means to live off the land without destroying, but we are to live off the land none-the-less, and finally, we were given the means to instill the skills and motivation for our children so that education is enhanced as much at home as in school. While this is true, all human beings have been made by God...it's hard to ignore the obvious truth that comes from Genesis 1:26-28. It seems to me that both sides of the coin is a vote for pro-life...kind of. Anyway, I'll save that debate for another blog post...stay tuned.
I guess my trouble is that there will never be the perfect candidate. I can't believe that there is a possible way to have a successful government that lives according to how the Bible calls us to live. We're all sinners (Genesis 8:2), and God is over all the earth, (Psalms 83:18), and is therefore the lawgiver for the world, (Isaiah 32:22) therefore, it seems next to impossible to have a candidate who really desires the call of God.
I look at what many democrats think is good for our country and I think of a community-based country where we share and live together, such as Acts 2:42-47, (OK, except for the whole "praising God" and people being saved part). So, I can't say that the Blue-bies are so wrong. I would dare say that those ideals seem to make them more passionate about helping ALL people more so than Republicans.

barackobamachange-fairey.jpg

With all that to say, I have a lot of thinking and exploring to do. I've just heard Barack Obama say the word , "Change," at least a thousand times without hearing any of his policies, and I've seen and heard so many references to John McCain's POW experience and how he's a "moderate" Republican, again, without hearing much about his ideals.

I want to explore, think through the issues and the answers to the problems...according to the candidates, and make a decision that's right. I plan to do this in a somewhat organized way on the blog. There are obviously a lot of items to sort through and get to the bottom of. Anything I've said above are thoughts and not official opinions at this point. Feel free to comment, but be respectful, OK!

04_arrested_lg.jpg

There has been much hype about the Bluth family coming to the silver screen, they even have a post on imdb.com with details about the upcoming movie! Heroes - Season 3

Dude, have you seen the trailer for one of the best shows on TV today? After a stellar first season, Heroes had quite the slump last year. Given that the writers' strike allowed no time to make for redemption, us Heroes fans are ready for a new beginning! It looks like this year is going to be great...it all begins September 22!
Oh, P.S., if you're sitting at home thinking to yourself, "I've never even seen an episode!" Welp, you can go to NBC.com and watch both seasons beforehand, there were only 11 episodes in the second season, add it up...that's 33 altogether. That's not even one for each day leading up to the season premiere. In other words, GET TO WORK!!! If that will require too much from you, then you can read the graphic novels online at NBC.com as well! Here's a preview of what's to come:

The Dark Knight

I am too excited about this movie...I will find a way to see it opening night! On Fandango they're calling it the Godfather of Super Hero Movies, and the words, "epic" and "best Batman movie ever made" are repeated throughout the 3,400+ reviews. I heard a representative from the website say that The Dark Knight is not a children's film by any means, that even the cinematography is gruesome, and that while the acting, script, and everything else about the film is incredible, this is Heath Ledger's movie...he takes the show. Oscar buzz is all about the late actor's performance in this new installment of the Batman franchise. They're even saying that Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the clown-gone-crazy has nothing on the new version. The Dark Knight will be the movie of the year! Almost here...5 more days!!!

Cards Tied with the Cubbies

I went to the game yesterday against the Chicago Cubs. Although it was hot, it wasn't steamy as is usually the case for St. Louis. Seeing as how I was there...we lost the game, that's my experience with the Cards.

cardsvscubs.gif

There was a funny moment halfway through the game. I told one of my friends at the bottom of the 4th that I needed to leave the stadium for the Cards to make the comeback. At the bottom of the 6th inning I went out to get some water and saw a vendor across the street that was selling water for $2. As I was getting my change back from my purchase, the fireworks start going off because Pujols hit a home-run, which ended up being our only run of the night. Why can't I see them win?
Congrads to Pujols who hit his 300th home-run on Friday! (Just a side note to all the Cubbies fans out there...I should remind you that although the Cardinals lost this series, we're still tied for the season against each other)

Nadal Wins Wimbledon!

Rafael Nadal broke Roger Federer's pace towards a 6-year-streak championship at Wimbledon! Had the Swiss tennis star won it would have been the first time in more than 130 years since someone has won the classic match 6 times in a row.
Many are calling Sunday's match the best in the history of the tournament; one thing's for sure...it was the longest, clocking in at 4 hours and 48 minutes. It was a night plagued with bad weather...but at the end of the day, although Nadal had lost the first two sets he was able to come back and win!

It's been a good week to be a Spaniard as Spain won the Euro Cup a week ago and Nadal won his fifth Grand Slam! Felicidades Amigos!

Australian Graffiti

aussie.jpg

The current show at the Hoffman Lachance Contemporary is a graffiti-based work by this group of Australians. You should check it out! I went for opening night; the various artists have their own diverse way of how to create. The show, entitled '10,320 Miles to Melbourne,' continues for a couple more weeks. It's located at 3100 Sutton Blvd, in Maplewood, and is open 12-5 Wednesday through Saturday.

Bozo's Grand Prize Game is Over

bozo.jpg

I remember watching Bozo the Clown on WGN. I loved the Grand Prize Game: bucket 1 won you a box of Archway Cookies, bucket 3 won you a wagon, bucket 5 won you a Shwinn bicycle, bucket 6 won you a trip for 4 to Disneyworld.
The skits were always so bad, and always involved cream pies. Cookie would always find ways to trick the red-haired clown. Goodbye Bozo!

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Larry Harmon, who turned the character Bozo the Clown into a show business staple that delighted children for more than a half-century, died Thursday of congestive heart failure. He was 83.

Although not the original Bozo, Larry Harmon portrayed the popular frizzy-haired clown in countless appearances.

His publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Associated Press he died at his home.

Although not the original Bozo, Harmon portrayed the popular clown in countless appearances and, as an entrepreneur, he licensed the character to others, particularly dozens of television stations around the country. The stations in turn hired actors to be their local Bozos.

"You might say, in a way, I was cloning BTC (Bozo the Clown) before anybody else out there got around to cloning DNA," Harmon told the AP in a 1996 interview.

"Bozo is a combination of the wonderful wisdom of the adult and the childlike ways in all of us," Harmon said.

Pinto Colvig, who also provided the voice for Walt Disney's Goofy, originated Bozo the Clown when Capitol Records introduced a series of children's records in 1946. Harmon would later meet his alter ego while answering a casting call to make personal appearances as a clown to promote the records.

Zaragoza World Expo!

As many of you know, I lived in Zaragoza, Spain for a couple of years where I did mission work and learned to love the people of region of Aragon. It's a city of 650,000 people right in between Madrid and Barcelona. On June 14th the World Expo, otherwise known as the World's Fair, came to Zaragoza! It's a huge fete for a city considered one of the oldest in the country, dating back to 24 B.C.
The theme of the 3-month-long festival is "Water and Sustainable Development," which is an obvious concern in our world today. Zaragoza 2008 will be structured around five theme pavilions and eight large eco-geographical areas comprising the 63 participating countries; Europe's largest fresh water aquarium has been built as well! There's a new pedestrian bridge that crosses the river Ebro, which is the entrance to the Expo 2008 and at the same time multi-level exhibition area. 10.000 visitors per hour will frequent the Main Pavilion of the world exhibition. It was designed by engineers, Zaha Hadid Architects & Ove Arup.

The Aquarium at Expo Zaragoza 2008 is a tribute to rivers, "revealing their deep soul and hidden fragility".

Penélope Cruz hugs it out with Fluvi, the mascot for Expo Zaragoza 2008, in Zaragoza, Spain, on Friday. The actress was on hand to receive a medal from the Spanish city for her support of the upcoming Expo.

The exhibition's most emblematic feature will be the Water Tower, a transparent building 60 metres high designed by Enrique de Teresa Trilla to evoke a drop of water.

Bob Dylan has recorded a new version of his 1963 classic A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall for the water-themed world fair. The song reportedly includes the singer's spoken comments on the importance of clean water across the world.
Go Zaragoza!
