Go CARDS!
This past Sunday I got to go to the Cards/Cubs game. Seeing as how I was there we lost...but I had the most unbe-freakin-leavable seats thanks to my good friend Abby! This was definitely a game I'll never forget. I literally could not stop laughing when we got there and finally arrived at our seats. We entered the front gate and then into the stadium and showed the lady our ticket...then we walked down the stairs, and down the stair, and there we were, front row, on top of the dugout. It was pretty amazing! Thank you Abby!
This was my view...
The legendary Pujols...
The legendary Chris Carpenter...although he basically gets paid to be hurt and watch the games from the dugout
YADI!
I left my keys in that dudes car. He lives in Tulsa. That's where the keys were until I received a FedEx package this afternoon.
Chris Duncan.
Pujols...just because...he's only 10 runs behind A Rod for the most since 2001...where do they come up with all these statistics?
The guy that makes it happen...

Viva San Antonio!
Someone asked me what I was doing in San Antonio last weekend. I told them...
I was going to NBA playoff games,
cheering on the Spurs as Tony Parker scores 38 points,
stalking homes decorated for Fiesta Week,
hanging out with royalty,
eating Mexican food by the river,
eating ice cream with chocolate and rice krispies,
partying with some people with crazy hats,
dancing to some mean salsa bands...and much, much more!

Sweet Chicken Nuggets: Vol. 7
Michael Scott for President!

There's this great show that you have to watch. Since Netflix came up with their instant play feature I've been able to start at the beginning and check out The Office. It's very funny! I've been watching episodes here and there for the past couple of weeks and I'm already on episode 15 of season 3.
Muggles' Delight

Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with a snake? Have you ever wondered what a booger flavored jelly bean tastes like? Have you ever sent mail via an owl? Have you ever caught a train at stop 9 and 3/4? Exactly. It's pure escapist entertainment...and to all the people who think it's cute to drop major bombs on me involving details from later books. It's not funny.
Lady Gaga Does it Again!

Sweet Chicken started talking about Gaga's greatness back in the fall...since then she's been zooming up the charts, and now has a second #1 single: Poker Face. The last time a new artist's first two singles went to the top spot was ten years ago with Christina Aguilera.
The Black Knight is No Longer

That's right, I got a new car! Well, new-ish. It's a 2005 Honda Civic, and white, very white...a little too white for my tastes, but the price was white, I mean right. Ha! I'm very excited! My last car lasted almost 12 years! Hooray for new cars! Even if it's ish.
Obama Loves Pi

The last time President Obama was in St. Louis he got a taste of a local establishment, Pi. It's a great pizza place on the Loop. Chris Sommers served the president and some of his aides some of Pi's favorites and now he's requested a second helping. He'll be flying to Washington D.C. this Friday to make 20 pizzas for the Obama family and friends. In case you're wondering, no, taxpayers aren't paying for the travel expenses, Chris Sommers, owner of Pi is.

Ting Tings Bring...it.
Has there ever been an English import with this much gusto for the dance floor and yet, for the Rock God in all of us? I'm pretty sure Thom Yorke has taken Elvis' throne as the king of rock 'n roll, David Bowie has retired his face make-up and the Spice Girls have told us what they really, really want many times over. However it's the guitar, the drums, the electronic machines, combined with catchy lyrics that really gets everybody jumping up and down, this I have learned from Katie White and Jules De Martino, the two that make up the "unintentional band."
Inevitably there will always be another British act to jump the pond and try to make it big in the U.S. It's hard to tell if that has happened for the Ting Tings however, the newest installment of the British Invasion that hasn't stopped since the Beatles made their journey to Shea Stadium. Weeks after the Ting Tings' show sold out at the Duck Room and got moved to The Pageant I was asking if any of my friends wanted to go, 9 out of 10 had they same response, "Who's that?" I could feel my frustration boiling to my head as I would ask even my Paste-Magazine-reading friends, who had the same response. I would kindly ask, "How can this be? They had an Apple commercial, you know, they have that song, "the drums, the drums, the drums." I would even sing, "that's not my name, that's not my name, that's not my name." With no avail, I only found one person who had interest...a woman, a wife to be exact who's husband was going out of town that weekend, which wouldn't have worked well for either of us. However, Friday around 2 o'clock I got a text, "Are you going to the Ting Tings tonight? I want to go..." I finally found a taker! I was on my way!

I met my friend out front, which made me nervous by the sight of so many skinny-jean-emo girls from MICDS. However, upon entering the Pageant we found ourselves among many 30-somethings and my fears turned into excitement, complete with great beer and excellent tunes being played by the house DJ, Super Conductor. From Yelle to Daft Punk to the ubiquitous Lady Gaga, he brought everybody to their feet and got things started. By the time we had all experienced Hot Tub, a trio of girls that could be the perfect element for Peaches meeting the Beastie Boys, we were all ready for the Ting Tings.
They came out, Wayfarer glasses intact, vintage t-shirts, wripped hose and all, ready to rock. It only took a couple of seconds for White to start singing in front of the beats from a base drum before everyone was screaming, jumping, and singing along. I had finally made it to the not-miss show! I'm serious, I have seen many great acts over the years: Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Madonna, Lauryn Hill, The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, Vampire Weekend, but the Ting Tings was, without a doubt, one of the most fun shows I've ever been to! I had to join my friends at a Hookah Lounge afterwards just to calm down.
It's impressive to me that the Ting Tings are only two people. Their sound is like Toni Basil combined with classic rock/synth rock meeting Joan Jett somewhere in the middle, yet electronic. Get it? If you don't...check 'em out on YouTube, they're on there. If they come to your town, you have to see 'em! My one complaint is that they didn't talk too much, I wanted to hear that British accent that screams, "oompa loompa," it just makes me happy. Guess I'll have to wait till next time.
